Summer 2010

Summer 2010

We're coming up on our 1st anniversary.  It's hard to believe that it has been almost a year already.  With this year anniversary we've met a lot of new also rekindled relationships with a lot of old friends.

With our approaching anniversary is also a sad time for us.  Shortly after opening our shop we lost our beloved lab Happy Gilmore.  Everyone loved Happy.  I would call her a lickador instead of a labrador.  Happy knew no stranger.  She loved to camp, swim and most of all stuff animals. I would frequently tell people that I didn't have to worry about other women I had to worry about dogs.  I thought if she could she would off me to have Rich all to herself.

We will be closing early on July 3 at Noon for the 4th of July holiday and closed July 5. We will open back up on the 6th with our normal hours. Also we will be closing early on August 14 at noon.

Outback by Jinny Beyer

The wall of Jinny is getting larger.  The pallet is totally in and now we have her newest line Outback.  Jinny designs her quilts based on her travels.  This quilt is based on the Outback of Australia.  I'm a huge Keith Urban fan so this is probably as close as I'll get this year to Keith.  Each color way is truly outstanding.  Pick yours and come join us for some end of summer fun piecing this together.  Quilt measures 71 x 71 which is a good sized lap. This class is priced for the class only, the kit is extra.

Dates:  July 31, August 7

Time:  1:00 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Fee: $25.00

Bev & Gary (300x225)

Bev & Gary Young - July 8 - 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.

It is my pleasure to announce that Bev and Gary Young will be here on July 8th @ 1:30 p.m..   I personally have learned a lot of what I know from Bev. I have seen no one that can look at something as quickly as her and tell you within minutes what you've done wrong and how to fix it. Bev has given most of us in the central Ohio area our start in the quilting business whether it be directly or indirectly. I am one that is forever grateful that our paths crossed and I was able to learn from one of the best. Although after opening the store, I may have to put Bev in the witness protection program to protect her from Rich.  He ended up in one of my stash rooms and started calculating the cost of what was there and said "My goodness, there are thousands of dollars in there". They are in the area to visit family and are just stopping by to say hi. If your paths have ever crossed, come in and join us to catch up what they've been doing since their retirement.

Beginning Paper Piecing

A lot of people, including myself do not or did not see the beauty of doing paper piecing.  Or they confuse it with English Paper Piecing. English Paper piecing is used when doing a Grandmother's Flower Garden.  Usually one is started out with a rectangle and do something with a quilt square that looks like a crazy quilt.  With that you cannot understand or grasp the true advantage of doing paper piecing.  Where paper piecing really comes to play is with having sharp and accurate points.  Come and learn paper piecing and have that "ah ha" moment
